My Dear M & F,
Just a line to let you know I [am] alright at present.
I heard from Dot the other day. She said that Arthur was alright. I hope you are all keeping well at home.
Closing with best love to all. Au revoir and God bless you all.

My Dear M & F,
Just a few lines to let you know I am alright up to the present.
Walter Lanstone is in this Batt [battalion] now. I was surprised when I saw him. He said that he saw Father while he was on his 4 days leave from Dover. It seems strange that someone from Hatfield should come to the Battalion.
Well Mother I should like some writing paper and envelopes when you write again. Well there is very little I can say. I hope you are all quite well at home. Give my love to Grandmother etc. So now I will close with best love to all. Au revoir and God bless you all.
Ever your loving son,
Fred
